It’s a whole new month here at Natural From Home! October is my favorite month! Not only is it my birthday, but have you taken a look out your window lately? The fall colors are in full color. My kitchen is filled with the smell of apples, pumpkins and other wonderful baked good treats. This morning I went and dragged out my October/fall decorations. My house is about to be decorated with all the great things I have collected over the year. I even got a few new decorations on clearance last year for the fall decorations that get to adorn the house.

We often associate canning, pickling and freezing with something our grandmothers or mothers did. All that time in the kitchen, over a hot stove, making sure it was just right so there was no spoilage. We have all heard the stories of the pressure cookers exploding and the walls being covered with tomato sauce.
But does this help us stay green in anyway? Is this something that has been “modernized” to become more effiecent and worth our effort and time?
The answer is yes!

I recently had to fill out a survey. One of the questions was, “Are you green even when it is inconvenient?” Well that got me thinking.
When we are in our home it is easy being green most of the time. We shop conscientiously of what we buy. We make sure we buy everything we can naturally. We make sure if we buy things in containers that they are recyclable. We carry cloth bags in our cars to carry home our purchases. We cook from scratch to give our families the best nutrition and variety. These are all things we do to live green and naturally.
