For many years we have not had a real tree. The main reason is because I have a daughter that is allergic. It took me many years to figure out the reason she had the sniffles all during the holidays was because of the tree we had carted into our living room. The second reason would be because I hated the thought of paying so much for a tree. Where we lived it would cost nearly $100 for a nice tree. We have always been on a budget. The last reason is because I hated seeing a dieing tree in my living room. Now yes I do know they are raised for this purpose, but it has always kind of made me sad to see it there. Knowing that it is destined for the curb.

This year I have made a compromise. We do have a tree in our house. Well, some may call it a bush, but it is an evergreen.

My daughter has wanted a tree, yes the one with the allergy, for so long. She loves the smell, the fact that it’s needles fall off, the whole 9 yards.

This is a compromise. If it makes her sniffle I can take it outside. After the holidays it will take residence on our back step and in the spring it will be planted outside.

I didn’t mind paying the price either. I know we will still have something come January, next spring and next year. We are going to decorate it this weekend with lights and ornaments that can stand the outside.

What a great idea for a Christmas Tree. I hope this catches on.

It’s the season to be out buying gifts. What can you do this year that represents your natural status? We are all trying to make our routine more natural. Let’s bring that routine into our gift giving.

Natural Gift #1Handmade natural soap

As a soap maker I can not tell you how wonderful this “stuff” is. Not only is it so much better for your skin, but it is so luxurious! You can now find this at plenty of places online. You can also find it at boutiques and gift stores. This is a great way to support your local soap maker. Handmade soap comes in a variety of scents and formulas. You are sure to be able to find soap for everyone on your list.

Natural Gift #2 Soy Candles

These are all natural candles. Just like traditional candles they come in a wide variety of colors and scents. They can now be found all over. I even saw the soy candles at our local grocery store.

Natural Gift #3 Lavender Pillows

Many years I used to make these myself. They are so wonderful. Great for relaxing. I can’t tell you how soothing they are for headaches. You can purchase yours at Pillows of Lavender. Order before the 19th for holiday shopping. Remember to get one for yourself too.

These are just 3 gift ideas. Have more ideas? Add them to the comments and I will add them here with a link. Have fun with your holiday shopping!
